Education and Teaching

The education sector offers a range of satisfying and rewarding careers. If you want to inspire and support others to learn, then training in education or specialising in teaching might be right for you. We have an established tradition providing high quality experience and expertise at USW. The direct links between theory and practice are fundamental through the delivery of our courses. Opportunities to work in small groups and on an individual basis, with continued support from familiar academics, will ensure you start your career with confidence. Plus, 100% of the assessments on our undergraduate degrees are coursework-based, so there are no exams.

Guaranteed placements and practical experience

A large part of your course will be on-the-job-learning, experiencing everyday work in the sector. Work placements are embedded in our degrees and every student is guaranteed placements. We work with a large network of education providers and settings, including schools, nurseries, community groups and charities, so you can experience how theory links to practice in a variety of environments.

Professional facilities

On campus, you’ll learn in an environment that fully prepares you for the world of work and your time on placement. There are dedicated spaces that recreate different learning environments, including school classrooms and flexible learning spaces. Throughout your studies, you’ll have knowledge and skills that can be applied to real-life work scenarios and the confidence to use them.

Innovative pedagogy and practice

Digital pedagogies are firmly embedded in our practice. Learning resources to develop your digital skills include iPads as well as a wide selection of storybooks, toys, indoor and outdoor learning spaces and an outdoor learning resource area. You’ll also have access to a range of online library resources and a simulation suite where you can work collaboratively with your peers to solve practical problems in a low-risk environment.

Entry requirements

USW take all aspects of an application into consideration and you may receive a personalised offer based on your predicted grades.
