In a world that won’t stop changing, USW graduates are ready to deal with the unexpected and adapt to new ways of thinking. But it’s not all theory. Work Experience

Work experience

This course has equipped me with the skills I need. There was so much practical experience, which has really appealed to employers.

Start your career before you graduate

USW has a dedicated team to help you find career-related work experience in the UK and overseas. There are different types of work experience, so you’re sure to find one that suits you.

Some of our courses have a year of work experience, called a ‘sandwich year’, built in – just check the study options for your course. It’s a great opportunity to spend time in the workplace and gain relevant experiences to talk about at interview. You could even consider a degree apprenticeship to combine study with employment.

Industry partnerships

Professional partnerships

Our professional connections provide expert knowledge and essential experiences.

We work closely with our industry partners to shape your learning, making sure that it reflects real life and employer demands. Many of our degrees hold accreditations from professional bodies. It’s a marker of their high standard and demonstrates that course content meets industry standards.

At USW, you know you’ll have the right knowledge reinforced by relevant practical skills. Our partnerships open a world of opportunity for you to reimagine your tomorrow.

Network75

Like a degree apprenticeship, this scheme combines work and study to improve your employability.

Network75 students receive a bursary and their tuition fees are paid in full by their host employer. The scheme has had 100% employability for 20 years and all graduates have been offered employment at graduate level or above.

Subject areas include engineering, surveying, computing, business, accounting and law.

Degree apprenticeships

Degree Apprenticeships

Degree apprenticeships are an alternative to traditional university study that are increasingly popular among students. You’ll be placed in a working environment, gaining real world workplace experience and earning a salary, while simultaneously working towards a degree qualification on successful completion of the apprenticeship.

We currently have degree apprenticeship vacancies in Operational Policing, Engineering, Semiconductor Technologies, and Digital and Technology Solutions.
