Professional study

Our students have access to the latest industry-standard equipment, as well as the software, computer animation, model-making, virtual reality headsets and workshops they need to become professional game artists, game designers and animators. Facilities, in addition to our software suites on campus, include a green screen studio, motion capture suite, stop motion studio and fabrication workshops for 3d printing and model making.

BA (Hons) Computer Animation and BA (Hons) Animation (2D and Stop-Motion) are accredited by ScreenSkills, which indicates they are recognised by industry for excellence. BA (Hons) Computer Animation is one of only two courses in the whole UK double-accredited in both the Animation and Games categories.

Strong industry links

Our courses have strong industry links through visiting lecturers, live projects and game jams. Live briefs include projects from BBC, D&AD and the Cardiff Animation Festival. 

Our students have opportunities to attend our free CREATE Masterclasses. Previous speakers have hailed from BBC, BAFTA, Double Negative, Codemasters, Supermassive, Framestore, Cloud Imperium Games, Ubisoft, and Tiny Rebel Games.

Graduate success

Our graduates gone on to forge careers at Aardman, BBC, Cloth Cat Animation, Media Molecule, Creative Assembly, Ubisoft, Rockstar Games, Core, Warner Bros, Dreamworks, Sony, The Moving Picture Company, Beryl Productions, and Framestore.

Games graduates have worked on games that include Red Dead Redemption II, Total War Series, Rainbow Six Siege, Star Wars Jedi:Fallen Order, Surgeon Simulator, Dreams, and Alien Isolation.

Animation graduates have also worked on Oscar-nominated films, including The Lion King, Avengers: Endgame, Missing Link, Ready Player One, Isle of Dogs, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Avengers: Infinity War, and TV shows that include His Dark Materials, The Mandalorian, and How To Train Your Dragon: Homecoming.  

Entry requirements

Applicants should normally hold Level 3 qualifications such as A-levels, BTEC Level 3 Diplomas, Access to Higher Education Diploma, and Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate Skills Challenge Certificate. However, we accept a range of different qualifications and will consider a variety of combinations.
