Practise Makes Perfect
At USW, you’ll gain professional skills and experience throughout your studies. Practical placements in a range of statutory, voluntary and third sector settings make up 50% of our Social Work degree. This means you’ll be fully prepared for a career in social work when you qualify and understand the sector in which you would like to work.
On campus, Social Work students can also take part in simulated learning experiences at our Hydra Simulation Centre and Moot Court facilities. Here, you’ll work with students and staff from other disciplines to explore real-life scenarios such as court proceedings and case conferences. You’ll learn through a variety of methods, including debates, law court scenarios, and role play simulations.
Learn Beyond the Classroom
We work in partnership with local authority employers, service users and carers, and Social Care Wales, to enrich your learning and provide practical experience.
Your experiences will prepare you for work in multiagency teams, alongside professionals from other services such as the police, health and education. You’ll also benefit from the experiences of representatives from the Service User and Carer Group, who contribute to this course.
